Behind the Work
“Where the mess becomes the magic — and ideas become impact.”
The work you see on walls, in classrooms, and across communities didn’t start fully formed; it started with questions, setbacks, moving parts, and late nights of painting, planning, and praying it would matter. This is where I show you the process behind the purpose.
Here, you'll find the behind-the-scenes moments that rarely make it into final presentations, the voice notes from curriculum brainstorms, the half-finished mural sketches, the sticky notes, team huddles, paint-stained floors, and community conversations that shaped each step. It’s my version of a creative journal, honest, evolving, and real.
But "Behind the Work" is also where I reflect on something deeper:
What it takes to lead creative projects that matter and the people who make them possible.
I lead both internal and external teams across projects from artists and educators to community organizers, consultants, and school leaders. Every project has its ecosystem of personalities, needs, and timelines. My job? To hold the vision, while listening deeply and making room for everyone to bring their best.
I love the adrenaline of a tight deadline, that buzz of focused energy, late-night adjustments, and bold decisions that demand both intuition and clarity. I thrive in that space. But I also believe that the end of a project should feel like a shared celebration, not just a checkbox.
That’s why I’m intentional about building connections within teams through conversation, care, and simple rituals like post-project lunches or celebratory dinners.
Because when people feel seen, appreciated, and valued, they bring their full selves to the work, and that’s when the magic happens.
So if you’re curious about how the vision becomes visible, or you're a fellow builder who loves exploring the “why” and “how” behind meaningful work, you're welcome here. Pull up a seat. Let’s talk process, people, and purpose.
